About CineGaze
CineGaze is a small, static cinema archive devoted to the slow reading of films. It collects one hundred titles — recognizable landmarks and quieter works alike — into a single editorial volume that can be browsed the way one browses a printed monograph: by year, by director, by genre, or simply by following the eye.
The archive is built as a reading room rather than a database. A dense catalogue on the left lists every film in compact editorial rows. A fixed showcase on the right renders the selected title's poster and a concise critical note. Clicking a row opens a longer reading view that places the film beside the other works of its director, so that one film always leads into the next.
What this site is
- A static, content-only archive of film notes and metadata.
- A curated index intended for browsing, discovery, and re-reading.
- An editorial presentation of publicly available film reference material.
What this site is not
- It does not host, stream, or link to any films or video files.
- It does not offer user accounts, registration, or subscriptions.
- It does not sell anything or process payments.
- It does not collect personal information through forms.
Editorial principles
Descriptions are written as compact critical notes — plot, character dynamics, and thematic reading — rather than promotional copy. Every entry links to an external reference for readers who want fuller credits. The selection is personal and incomplete by design; the goal is not to crown a canon but to make browsing a pleasant act of attention.
